Victims of recent Fulani militia attacks have continued to receive more relief from government. The latest is from the Plateau State Government.
A statement from the Chief Press Secretary, office of the Deputy Governor, Domman Wetkum revealed that the PLSG has donated relief materials to the survivors with a call on them to remain calm as government is doing everything possible to ensure they are well catered for.
According to the statement, Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, who led the delegation was also at the palace of the paramount ruler of the Irigwe nation, Brra Ngwe Rigwe, Reverend Ronku Aka at Miango, where the Deputy Governor sympathised with the monarch and the people over the recent attacks in the locality.
Prof. Tyoden reiterated that the Lalong remains passionate about peace in the state, stressing that perpetrators of the dastardly act will be brought to book.
The relief materials made up bags of rice, maize, cantons of indomie, milk, toiletries were also presented for onward distribution to those affected.
It would be recalled that during his state wide broadcast, the governor assured that victims of the attacks would be provide relief materials.
The delegation earlier visited Yelwa Zangam where an attack was launched on the community leading to loss of several lives.
Meanwhile, the Izere nation has commended Governor Simon Lalong for his efforts in promoting peace, reconciliation and tackling crimes which they said has engender the return of relative peace to the State in the last six years.
Led by the paramount ruler of the Izere nation, Adagwom Izere, HRH Rev. Isaac Azi Wakili in company of community leaders, former and serving political office holders, youth representatives and academicians from the Chiefdom, the delegation commiserated with the Government and people of the State over the recent attacks that claimed lives and properties.
The delegation said they were at the Government House to appreciate the efforts of the Governor in addressing the situation and restoring normalcy within a very short time and applauded the steps taken to de-escalate the situation and save lives.
The monarch informed their host that the people of his kingdom remain solidly behind him because they know his efforts in promoting peace, reconciliation and tackling crimes which have ensured the return of relative peace to the State in the last six years.
He encouraged the Governor not to be deterred by the criticisms and vilification of those who want to use the tragedy for political gains, saying such actions are not healthy for the peace and progress of the State.
The Royal Father assured the Governor that the people of Izere nation remain great partners of the Rescue Administration and will not allow anybody to cause crises or take advantage of such developments to discredit the Government for political purposes.
Responding, Gov. Simon Bako Lalong described the visit as reassuring and another affirmation that the Izere nation and most citizens of the State are not only lovers of peace but supporters of the Rescue Administration which according to him, is working to build a safe, secure and inclusive society.
He expressed gratitude to the monarch for always being proactive and in supporting Government in its efforts to build a better Plateau.
Lalong said the actions of a few people from the Izere nation will not jeopardize the harmonious relationship that exists between him and the people of Izere land. The governor also thanked the delegation for choosing to stand with the progress of the entire State rather than be dragged into political games that seek to escalate the tensions and paint the Government bad for political purposes, using the recent unfortunate attacks as a launchpad.
