The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has solicited for the support of the media towards achieving zero crashes on roads.
Assistant Corps Marshal in charge of RS 4 HQ of the FRSC, Ayuba Gora Wobin, stated this during a working visit to the Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) in Jos.
He stated that he had enjoyed a good working relationship with journalists and gave assurance that “So many things have been put in place for our roads to be safe.”
The Assistant Corps Marshal added: “Crashes have reduced on our roads. It is my prayer to see a zero-crash in Nigeria. There are 3 major causes of crashes: one of which is human factor.”
He declared that he would do everything possible to educate and enlighten the public on the dangers and safety for road users by continuing to educate them in churches and mosques.
He also disclosed that the command had done a lot to reduce crashes during this year’s travelling season, adding that the state had already flagged-off its ‘Ember’ month campaign.
Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Mr. Paul Jatau, assured of a close working relationship with the FRSC, especially in enlightening the public towards minimizing road crashes.
