The burial of late Dr. Obadiah Mailafia is scheduled to take place on November 5 in Abuja.
A statement released by the Burial Steering Committee at the end of its meeting on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in Abuja indicated that a service of songs/tributes comes up on November 4 at the National Christian Centre in Abuja by 5pm while the funeral service would be held at the same venue on Friday November 5, 2021, at 11am.
The statement signed by Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam on behalf of the Committee, disclosed that, following the demise of the former Deputy Governor of Nigeria’s apex bank and Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress Party in the 2019 general elections, a committee headed by Prof. Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information, was put in place to organize the burial.
The committee also acknowledged the countless condolence messages, visits to the deceased’s family from sympathizers including religious, political and community leaders, since the incident occurred.
“Since the transition of Dr. Mailafia to eternal glory, religious, political and community leaders, among others, have paid personal visits to the Abuja home of The Mailafia. The Committee wishes to thank all those who visited and sent condolence messages to the family.
“We thank everyone for identifying with the bereaved family and look forward to the scheduled funeral activities in bidding farewell cum paying last respects to Dr. Obadiah Mailafia.”
It would be recalled that Dr. Obadiah Mailafia passed away on September 19, 2021, at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada.
