ECWA Int’l College of Technology Graduate 200 Students in Jos

ECWA International College of Technology (EICT), Jos has graduated about 200 students who bagged various Diplomas and certificates.

Chairman of the occasion and Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof. Yohanna Izam noted that certificates obtained from EICT are acceptable in tertiary institutions across Nigeria because the programmes being run by the college are accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and advised young Nigerians to enroll into the college without any fear or doubts. 

In a goodwill message, the ECWA President, Rev. (Dr) Stephen Baba Panya, appreciated the management and students of the institution for not straying away from the vision of the founding fathers of the college who came as missionaries.

He assured that the church would continue to keep the vision and mission of Anthony Petrillo alive in transforming young people in the world of Information technology and present Christ to them.

Represented by the ECWA Vice President, Rev. Stephen Sunday Ajise, the ECWA President tasked the graduates not to throw away the knowledge acquired from the school.

While urging the graduates not to forget where they are coming from, the cleric charged them to see themselves as change agents that the society is yearning for.

He promised that the ECWA leadership will not relent in providing the needed support to the school towards ensuring that the college maintain the lead in the field of information technology.

He also tasked the graduands to go into the world as true ambassadors of Christ and ECWA by ensuring that they portray Christ through their conduct and lifestyles as according to him, ECWA is emphasizing mission and evangelism hence they should serve where there are no missionaries.

In a paper presentation on the topic, “Impact of Information Technology on entrepreneurship in Post COVID-19 Era,” Vice Chancellor of Bingham University Karu, Prof. Barnabas Qurix who was the Guest Speaker posited that information technology is rapidly changing the world alongside industrial revolution which he opined are quite challenging to the human race.

Prof. Qurix who lauded the college for standing tall over the years in training and churning out young IT graduates that have made marks in the society by taking the lead in the world of ICT world, called on the students to take advantage of the opportunities that abound in the field.

Represented by the Head of ICT Department of BhU, Dr. Faki Ageebee Simon, Prof. Qurix stated that digital technology has since become an enabler of connectivity through connecting people more than ever before and advised people to take advantage of the many opportunities that abound in it.

Prof. Qurix who urged the graduates to ensure they utilize the knowledge acquired and be global players by positively impacting the society and opined that graduates of EICT are walking with their shoulders high with their counterparts from other higher institutions because has been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

He however, called on the graduands to strive towards becoming great and leading thinkers who will transform the global business environment by providing direction for new breeds of entrepreneurs to find opportunities in the emerging markets.

Earlier in her remarks, Rector of the college, Mrs. Christie Dasaro disclosed that the occasion was organized to celebrate the achievements of students of the college in the field of IT especially in the aspect of computer application, micro computer maintenance and NID computer hardware engineering.

The Rector added that the school does not only impart IT knowledge in the students but also impact their spiritual lives so as to transform them especially those who enroll into the college as people without hope.

She added that the college has continuously moved to higher heights as a result of the support being enjoyed from the ECWA Executive and solicited for more to enable the institution attain its peak.

Mrs. Dasaro while highlighting some of the challenges confronting the college appealed to government to reconsider some of the taxes and levies that are imposed on the institution which she said impedes societal development.

The event featured a robotic display, formal launch of the college magazine among others. Highpoint of the occasion was the award of certificates to graduating students.

Frederic Ndoubatarr, a Chadian national who was among the graduands spoke to Today’s Challenge magazine said passing through EICT has helped him become a better Christian and promised to return home and adequately utilize the knowledge gained in EICT for the growth of his country and the church.
