COCIN Tasks Govt on Inflation, Threats to Nation’s Stability

…Adopts ‘Living in Holiness’ as 2024 Theme

The Church of Christ in Nation (COCIN) has called on government at all levels to address what it termed “the unprecedented inflations and security challenges threatening the unity and stability of the nation.”

Similarly, the denomination has adopted ‘Living in Holiness,’ taken from Hebrews 12:14, as its 2024 theme as well as Missions and Evangelism and Investment Development for Missions, Discipleship, Prayer and Revival as its focus for the coming year.

The church stated these in a 20-point communique signed by its President, Rev. Dr. Amos Musa Mohzo, and Rev. Dr.  Benjamin Pokol, the COCIN General Secretary, which was made available to journalists at the end of the 104th GCC meeting.

While calling on Nigerians to remain vigilant and proactive regarding the security of their communities and churches, COCIN decried the increasing cases of substance abuse among youth in some communities and challenged its members to lead a crusade of sensitization and fight against the sale and consumption of illicit drugs and substances.

While condemning the persistent attacks on the Church and communities by terrorists and the rising wave of kidnapping in the country, COCIN commiserated with the families of all Clergy and members who had lost their loved ones.

While acknowledging the efforts and commitment of traditional leaders and wisdom in maintaining peace and security in their communities, the Council expressedd hope that the partnership with the Church wwould continue to yield fruits and bring harmony.

COCIN expressed gratitude to the Vwang community for donating 22 KVA generator to KKU and thanked God for his providence and sustenance through the “turbulent storms and challenges experienced by the Church and the successful take-off of the University.”

The Council also applauded the sacrifices and commitment of the COCIN missionaries within and outside Nigeria

During the meeting, the Council elected Rev. Dinfa Mamshal as the new Deputy General Secretary of The Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).

The 104th GCC meeting had in attendance the Agwom Izere, Rev. Dr. Isaac Wakili, the Ujah Anaguta, Pozoh Johnson Jauro Magaji, the Mishkaham Mwaghavul, Da John Hirse, and the Ata Atten of Ganawuri, Da Yakubu  Chaimang
