Karl Kumm University, Vom, is set to hold its maiden matriculation on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the university’s premises in Vom.
The COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo announced this in his address at the opening of the just concluded 104th General Church Council held in Jos recently.
According to the COCIN President, the matriculation exercise was the culmination of two decades of dedication and hard work by COCIN.
“As we gather to celebrate this significant milestone, I would like to extend a heartfelt invitation to all PCC Chairmen, RCC Chairmen, Headquarters church members, Gindiri chaplaincy stakeholders, Directors, all provosts and principals of institutions and Heads of Units to join us on this joyous day. Your presence at the maiden matriculation ceremony is not only evidence of the church’s enduring vision but also a demonstration of your continued support for the growth and development of Karl Kumm University,” he said.
The management of the university has announced that the institution was fully operational with staff and students on campus.
Vice Chancellor of Karl Kumm University, Prof. Audu Nanven Gambo stated this in a report he presented to the General Church Council meeting.
While appealing for sustained funding to meet the demands of both staff and students, the VC said that KKU had immense opportunities and prospects of becoming a world class citadel of learning if properly funded.
Applauding the support of the proprietor towards translating the dream of the founding fathers into a reality, he said that the institution has had “some high and low moments” but the grace of God had made it possible for the institution to march steadily to its destination.
“The journey to where we are now has been rough, tortuous, and extremely challenging. When we got NUC approval on the 18th March 2023 to commence academic activities, we took some bold steps to get started. However, no sooner had we commenced the process of taking off than we realized the enormity of the challenges before us. To the glory of God, we have successfully overcome some of these challenges.”
Highlighting some of the achievements recorded so far, the VC said “The Entreprenuership centre is ready for use now. We only need to equip it with relevant equipment for various skills acquisition.
“The over university health services unit is partially operational now. However, we need to increase the capacity of the unit to be able to respond to some fairly complex health challenge.
“We have provided street solar light points to illuminate the campus at night. All the solar light points are functioning well. There is improved security on campus as a result of this initiative.”
He added that the institution has admitted its first set of students that aside the 60 that have been fully registered, KKU has close to 200 candidates on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) Central Processing System.
Speaking on some of the challenges facing the institution, the VC enumerated the lack of some laboratory tests equipment the health centre, need for a Hilux for the security division and the beautification of the campus as some of the current challenges facing the University.
