…Rejoices with Lalong on Successful Tenure, Congratulates Mutfwang

The Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, has condemned what it termed “the lack of will power by the Federal Government to address the incessant attacks by Fulani terrorist on communities whose aim is land grabbing of ancestral lands of the indigenous people.”
Similarly, the denomination has applauded the National Universities Commission, NUC, for lifting the suspension on the Karl Kumm University license and approving the take-off of the 2022-2023 academic session at the permanent site in Vom, Plateau State.
In a 15-point communique issued at the end of its 103rd General Council meeting held at its headquarters in Jos, COCIN condemned the recent “coordinated and unwarranted” attacks on communities in Mangu, Bokkos, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi LGAs in Plateau State and some communities in Kaduna and Taraba States.”
While advising communities to unite and strengthen the community policing initiatives for self-defense, the church advocated for synergy between the members and the traditional institutions in tackling security challenges and promote harmonious living.
While commiserating with those who lost their loved ones and properties through natural events and recent attacks in Plateau, Kaduna and Taraba states, COCIN called on members not to relent in their prayers, adding that the Church had set aside June 2nd to 4th 2023 to pray and fast, particularly for Plateau and Taraba states and the country as a whole.
COCIN also enjoined the clergy not to relent in providing spiritual guidance to members on matters of politics and governance in accordance with Biblical principles and urged its spiritual leaders and peace makers to be committed to their divine ministerial calling and desist from engaging in partisan politics.
While rejoicing with the outgoing Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, and his Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, for a successful completion of their tenure, the COCIN leadership wished them the best in their future endeavours.
They also congratulated the Plateau State Governor-elect, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, and prayed for God’s guidance and a successful tenure for the incoming administration.
