The First Session of the Fifteenth Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Jos has ended with a call on Christians and all churches to wake up and be on fire for the Gospel and have a living relationship with the Lord.
In an 8-point communique issued at the end of the synod held in Jos with the theme “God’s Message to the Church,” participants acknowledged that the Christian faith was about the gospel that was properly taught, lived and brings about transformation but not about ethics.
The communique said “In today’s world there is urgent need for repentance and a turning back to God who is still calling all people. Such transformation is desperately needed in society.
“We are surrounded by persecution today: The Church is therefore called to stand firm and hold fast to the Bible, teaching and living the Scriptures every day.
“Like the Church in Laodicea, the Church today was warned that we are doomed for destruction if we are only lukewarm in our Christian commitment.
“Christians and all Churches must wake up and be on fire for the gospel with a living relationship with the Lord.
During the session, the synod approved the establishment of a Boy’s Brigade Company in every Church and resolved that all boys from children’s Church should automatically become members of the Brigade.
