By Danjuma Auta
Former ECWA General Secretary, Rev. Prof. Mipo Ezekiel Dadang, has called on Christians to imbibe the spirit of thanksgiving always in response to God’s blessings.
The cleric gave the charge during a thanksgiving service held in honor of an ECWA pastor, Rev. Dr. Dogo Gani, Director of the Air force chaplaincy, who was recently promoted to the rank of Air Commodore in the Nigeria Airforce.
According to Rev. Dadang, thanksgiving must be part of the Christian life and for believers who are beneficiaries of God’s free gift of His son Jesus Christ who died for our sins.
Reading from 1Samuel.16:17-18 and speaking from the topic, ‘The fame of David in the context of Air Commodore Dogo Gani’ the cleric said that, having served with Commodore Gani in the same church, he was not surprised at his rapid promotion in the Air force.

Describing the celebrant as a down to earth and humble person. Rev. Dadang added that he was very optimistic that Rev. Gani, justified the promotion.
The Brra Ngwe Rigwe, Rev. Ronku Aka (Rtd), thanked God for elevating one of his own adding that the Irigwe nation was proud of such a worthy son.
He called on all sons and daughters of Irigwe to support and pray for Air Commodore Gani and other senior military officers who just got promoted to higher ranks for successful careers.
He disclosed that, despite the security challenges bedeviling Irigwe land, God had continued to bless his people and called on them to continue living peacefully with one another.
Also in a goodwill message, President, Irigwe Development Association, Prince Robert Rigye Ashi, stated that the Irigwe nation had started coming alive once more.
According to him, the devil had planned the complete annihilation of the Irigwe people through killer Fulani herdsmen but God has stood in for the people.
He called on the security agencies keeping peace in the land to urgently wade in and check the influx of herdsmen currently occupying and grazing in communities where his people were attacked and sacked.
He said, “We notice with great concern in recent days an unprecedented number of herdsmen trooping into our communities with hundreds of herds grazing in our land, destroying irrigation crops and even entering into houses, this trend is bad and the security operatives must check the activities of these people, because this act was becoming unbearable to my people.’’
Responding, Air Commodore Dogo Gani, thanked God for elevating him to his new rank which he attributed to the Grace of God.

He recalled that, as a child growing up in the local community, he never contemplated rising to such a position, yet God had remained faithful to him.
He thanked ECWA and all of those he worked with t in the past for helping him grow in the fear of God which made him what he is today.
He called Irigwe to embrace peace and forgive those who had wronged them in the past and leave vengeance to God.
The occasion featured song rendition by groups in the community, thanksgiving offering by the celebrant, friends and well-wishers. The programme was held at the 1st ECWA Church, Miango, Bassa LGA of Plateau State.
