ECWA Portfolio Donates Hostel to Bingham Varsity

A 46 rooms hostel building sorely built by the ECWA Portfolio Management Limited has finally been handed over to the authorities of the Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa state.

Speaking at the occasion, Chairman Board of Directors ECWA Portfolio Management Limited, Tapgol Ching-Yin, says that the project was a reality due to the untiring efforts of ECWA staff and the ECWA Executives who have been contributing to the scheme since inception.

He added that as part of the mandate of establishing the EPML scheme of ECWA, the department has been saddled with the responsibility of developing infrastructure and financing projects that would have direct impact on its members and institutions and disclosed that Bingham University is the beneficiary of the biggest lifesaving credit the company had ever given out.

He described the event as a celebration of God’s faithfulness, a fulfillment of a dream come true and an opportunity to give back to the university in a long period of symbiotic relationship.

He disclosed that the building is of two floors with 46 rooms to accommodate the ever growing numbers of the university students and said that the donation was in line with the cooperate social responsibility of EPML.

Also contributing, Managing Director and chief executive ECWA POTFOLIO Limited, Moses Kolawole, thanked the ECWA Executive and the Board of Trustees for given them free hands to operate.

He stressed that ECWA Portfolio since inception the company had continue to grow from strength to strength and announced that the university and the Portfolio had enjoyed a long time relationship over the years. According to him, he disclosed that this was not the first project Portfolio is sponsoring in the University as the company had supported the institution with loans to build some of the hostels in the past.

He said EPML has followed the achievements of the present management of the institutions and are well satisfied with the massive transformation being recorded and hence their resolved to continue to support the University in her strive to be better than what it is today.

He disclosed that the project was the initiative of the Board of Trustees of EPML and is said to consumed 160million naira to complete it and said when completed the company would also ensure that they fence the hostel and provide interlocks within the hostel.

The contractor and chief executive Kolad construction company, Builder Kola stated that the project was undertaken without compromising quality and standard and said that his firm apart from working for money they’re also in business to advance the course of the gospel.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor Bingham University, Prof. Barnabas Quirix, thanked EPML for considering the institution for such a donation and said that the institution does not take the gesture for granted and said that they will ever remain grateful to the organization.

He disclosed that when Bingham University was in a stage of comer, it was EPML that came to their rescue buy supporting them pay their accumulated loans off.

Quirix assured the donor that the University will do everything possible to ensure that the project is well guided, maintained and keep to quality and called on the Board and management of EPML not to be tired in extending its hands of friendship to the institutions through the provision of more projects now that the University is experiencing influx of students.

Earlier, the ECWA President, Rev. (Dr). Stephen Baba Panya, expressed satisfaction that the dreams of the founding fathers of ECWA is been fulfilled in his own time and said that the present ECWA Executive would continue to support every laudable project geared towards changing the face of all ECWA establishments.

In a related development, a 33 room comprehensive medical center with 11 rooms for offices, operational theaters and other facilities build by a family in Karu Nasarawa state was donated to ECWA.

Engr. Festus Narai Daudu, while handing over the project to ECWA stated that he was challenged when he was appointed to serve in a committee constituted by the ECWA Community Health for the renovation of a collapsed ECWA Community Health clinic in Karu and said that what he has done is nothing compare to the Grace of God over his life and family.

He thanked God for giving him the opportunity to be counted among those investing into the kingdom of God here on earth and called on well-meaning ECWA sons and daughters who are bless to consider doing something for the church instead of thinking of what the church would do for them.

ECWA President, Rev (Dr) Stephen Baba Panya, applauded the donor and called on all ECWA sons and daughters home and abroad to emulate the donor whom he described as a lover of God and a selfless member of the church.

Also speaking, the ECWA Medical Director, Dr. Mikah Madaki, described the donation as the first of its kind in the medical department and called on well-meaning individuals to support in equipping the health center state of the art equipment.

Highlights of the events was the presentation of the keys of the projects and inspection of the rooms and facilities.
