It was an emotional moment for leaders of ECWA women fellowship as members gathered to elect leaders that would lead them for the next three years.
Like every other election in ECWA, the women had spent quality time praying for the right people to emerge, even though there were rumors of others interested in taking over from the current leaders.
But the women decided to change the narrative by unanimously returning all the three incumbents.
The electoral commissioner, the Director of Church Relations, Rev. Benjamin Nasara, who had insisted that the formal process of election in ECWA must be followed, had a hectic time affirming the women’s collective decision.
As a result, Miriam Philips, Khadija Yahaya Tambaya and Comfort Sunday, were returned unopposed as leader, treasurer and assistant secretary respectively.
Rev. Nasara declared the trio elected by the international council of ECWA Women Fellowship International, having successfully served for three years and met the requirements for leadership in ECWA.
In a related development, the women fellowship has presented seven motorcycles and two grinding machines to the Evangelical Missionaries Society of ECWA (EMS) as part of its contributions towards advancing the work of God in the mission field.
In a colorful ceremony at the ECWA Headquarters Conference Center, Jos, the women leader, Mrs. Miriam Philips, accompanied by other leaders, disclosed that four of the motorcycles where donated by the wife of the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Mrs. Hauwa Philip Aduda, three by the Katsina zone of the fellowship while the two grinding machine where from the women of Jos zone.
She explained that because the fellowship was mainly created for mission, they would continue to work towards keeping alive the vision of its founding members by paying even more attention to supporting mission institutions.
She urged leaders at the various levels of the fellowship to go back to their various DCCs and ensure that all EMS children’s schools are catered for to provide the best education that can be obtainable anywhere in the world.
Receiving the items, the EMS Director, Rev. Elisha Dudu McPhilips, thanked the women for the donations which, according to him, were answered prayers as the department had received requests for motorcycles and grinding machines from their missionaries and two EMS children’s schools.
The cleric added that the department had over the years enjoyed a strong partnership with the women’s fellowship and applauded them for sponsoring the highest number of missionaries at home and abroad. Rev. McPhilips called on all ECWA agencies and well-meaning Christians to emulate the women by giving, praying and going for mission work.
