Practicing journalists in Plateau State have felicitated with Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State on his 58th birthday.
Leadership of the Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) described the governor as “a leader with uncommon attributes and leadership skills that includes humility, discipline and tolerance worthy of emulation by other leaders.”
A statement signed by the NUJ Chairman, Paul Jatau, and Secretary, Peter Amine, said: “The NUJ identifies with you on this auspicious occasion of the anniversary of your birth.
“Your uncommon attributes and leadership skills which include humility, discipline and tolerance is worthy of emulation by other leaders.
“Your disposition and commitment to entrench lasting peace in Plateau especially now that the nation is engulfed in all forms of insecurity is commendable.”
The members of the pen profession added that they find governor Lalong’s resolve to complete projects initiated by his predecessors as exemplary and encouraged him to continue to strive towards improving on the state infrastructure for the good of Plateau people.
“We are particularly happy as one of the beneficiaries of your legacies, as we are about to occupy our Secretariat remodeled by your administration.
“Your Excellency, on behalf journalists on the Plateau, the NUJ wishes you a very happy birthday.”
In a related development, members of the Plateau State Executive Council have showered encomiums on Governor Simon Lalong, describing him as “a leader who has demonstrated exceptional capacity to consider the interest of others above himself.”
A statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Dr. Makut Simon Macham indicates that the State EXCO led by the Deputy Governor, Prof Sonni Tyoden, were at the Governor’s residence to congratulate him on his 58th birthday.
Speaking on behalf of the state EXCO, Prof. Tyoden described it as another special occasion and another opportunity for Plateau and Nigeria to celebrate the Governor Lalong for his humility and service to humanity.
Describing Lalong as a gift to the Plateau State and Nigeria, Tyoden added that the Governor has used every opportunity in public office to serve the people especially the vulnerable and marginalized.
Prof. Tyoden said the Rescue Administration has achieved a lot particularly in the areas of peace, infrastructural, human capital development, agriculture and tourism.
Responding, Governor Lalong thanked the State EXCO and the people of Plateau who have not only supported his administration but are also praying for him to succeed.
He acknowledged that his administration wouldn’t have been able to achieve anything without the support and cooperation of the people.
Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, Rev. Fr. David Ajang offered special prayers for the governor and his entire family.
