The Panya Baba Foundation for Mission Research has been launched at the Igbaja Theological Seminary, Kwara State.
This was disclosed during the 2020 graduation and award ceremony of the seminary by a member of the family, Barrister Musa Panya Baba, who stated that the foundation was in memory of the legendary Rev. Dr. Panya Baba, of blessed memory, for taking the gospel of Christ to the whole world through his missionary work.
According to him, there could not have been a better way of honoring the memory of their father considering the efforts he made towards ensuring that they all remained believers in Christ Jesus.
He pledged that their family would continue to support the institution and announced an initial take-off grant of N2 million for the Panya Baba Memorial Foundation for Mission Research.
According to him, mission had always been the heartbeat of their family, adding that they would continue to do their best in advancing that cause and supporting missionaries at home and in The Diaspora.
He disclosed that the fund would be channeled towards acknowledging and rewarding the best graduating student in missions, scholarship grant for research thesis on missions, supporting ETSI’s mission projects, in collaboration with EMS of ECWA, periodic study of missions and priority projects support for ETSI.
Provost of the institution, Rev. Dr. John Olu Adetoyese. expressed delight that the great Rev. Baba Panya, who was an icon of the Great Commission that ensured the preaching of the undiluted word of God all over the world, was being honoured during his tenure.
He disclosed that the institution was planning to build a befitting edifice to be named after him.
