Plateau: State Information Commissioner Engages with Media

Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the Plateau State Commissioner of Information and Communication has commended journalists in Plateau State for fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities and reporting responsibly on state activities.

The Commissioner expressed her appreciation during a media parley with journalists held in Jos.

Ramnap disclosed that the forum aims to foster interaction between the Information Ministry, the Directorate of Press and Public Affairs, and journalists, allowing for a harmonious exchange on governance issues in the state.

She added that together, they can effectively communicate and enhance the narrative surrounding Plateau.

Ramnap emphasized that the parley would encourage professional conduct and promote the interests of the people of Plateau.

Describing the interaction as the beginning of a “new working relationship” that promises continued improvement, she assured that the world would come to recognize the efforts of Plateau citizens in shaping their story.

She thanked journalists for their contributions and support in ensuring that the Plateau narrative reaches a global audience.

Earlier in the event, Ayuku Pwaspo, the Plateau State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), praised the commissioner for creating a platform for journalists to engage with her.

She noted that such discussions would enhance developmental reporting by the press.

Pwaspo urged journalists to maintain civility during conversations as they collaborate to advance the state’s interests.

Dr. Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs, remarked that the parley was intended to establish common ground and foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the government and the media.

He encouraged journalists to prioritize Plateau in their reports, emphasizing the importance of objectivity and accuracy in their coverage.

The one-day event provided journalists with the opportunity to seek clarifications on government activities and policies from the current administration.
