It was a grave moment for the Yisa family, ECWA and the nation as Trustee Musa Faruk Yisa was finally interred at the Gudu cemetery in Abuja. Earlier, a service of songs was held in his honor at the ECWA Goodnews Church, Tennessee Street, Maitama, Abuja. In a message, the ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, cautioned Christians to ensure that their lives speak good of them even after death as everyone would give account of their earthly lives.
Taking his reading from Matthew 25: 31, the cleric stated that since it is appointed unto man to die once, what mattered most was one’s choice either to spend eternity with God or in hell. Rev. Baba said that he was positive that the late Elder Yisa had since joined the hosts of heaven in singing Hallelujah songs because he made the correct choices while on earth.
The Secretary, ECWA Board of Trustees, Rev. Prof. Musa Gaiya, described Trustee Yisa as a quintessential administrator who brought his rich civil service experience to bear on the BOT and served meritoriously. He added that the late trustee was courageous, knowledgeable, committed, indefatigable and thorough in every assignment he undertook and lamented that the BOT would miss his wise leadership style and counsel. Speaking on behalf of ECWA, the General Secretary, Rev. Yunusa Sabo Nmadu, said that the deceased was a dedicated and focused man of God who served the Lord without reservations and always ensured that the right thing was done in moving the church forward. In a condolence message, the Etsu Tsaragi, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi, expressed shock at the death of Elder Yisa but maintained that no one could challenge the will of God. According to him, the deceased was a role model to him and the entire traditional council. Elder Yisa’s widow, Victoria, thanked God for being his wife as he was her strongest pillar in life. She described him as an honest and sincere man who never allowed the things of this world distract him from eternity and gave up all for the sake of his integrity and family. She added that even though they were now physically apart, his courage, diligence, boldness and truth would always remain as a lasting legacy to his family. The service of songs and the burial were held under strict COVID-19 protocols with dignitaries from across the country in attendance.
