Leader of the ECWA Women Fellowship International, Dr. Mrs. Miriam Philips, has stated that ECWA women are committed to serving God faithfully in spite of the present economic challenges facing the country.
She made this known in a speech delivered during the rounding up of the 2023 ECWA Women Fellowship International week of prayer held at the ECWA Headquarters church Jos and all ECWA churches in Nigeria and beyond.
According to her, the high level of poverty in Nigeria was an indication that nothing was working right for citizens but said that she was impressed that women had shown that not even that could deter them from serving God.
She described the week-long programme as highly successful considering the spiritual blessings gained from the Bible studies and prayers.
She added that the fellowship was heavenly-minded as women were doing everything possible to ensure that none of them loses sight of the soon-coming Jesus Christ.
She called on women to serve as intercessors for their families and the church and guard their hearts above all things because therein lay the issues of life, especially now that the world was more evil than ever.
Dr. Philips called on government to intensify efforts in addressing insecurity, terrorism, kidnapping and religious persecution in parts of the northern region.
According to her, the church was worried over the constant assault on Christians’ minds from the social media, fake preachers, open display of immorality, hunger in the land, high rate of unemployment and large-scale corruption.
On the 2024 ECWA Women Fellowship International Conference to be held in Zonkwa, Kaduna State, which will be marking the fellowship’s 80th anniversary, she enjoined women not to be afraid of anything as God had been working them.
Speaking on the textile company to be established by the church, Mrs. Philips assured the women that everything was being done to ensure that the project commences as soon as possible.
The leader called for special prayers for widows, orphans and the less privileges for God to continue to raise people that would support them through the women fellowship and other donor agencies.
The Women Fellowship International week of prayers is observed between October and November every year in all ECWA churches worldwide and is committed to critical studies of the word of God, visits to orphanages, song renditions and outreaches, among others.
