ECWA HQs Staff Holds Christmas Carol

The Christmas mood was activated at the ECWA Headquarters in Jos as staff alongside the ECWA Executive converged on the International Conference Centre for the 2021 annual Christmas carol.

Speaking during the event, ECWA President, Rev.(Dr.) Stephen Baba Panya, said that Christmas remains a very significant event in the life of every Christian.

The cleric added that the coming of Jesus Christ to earth as a little baby born in an animal manger was a sort of “invasion of the kingdom of darkness” hence believers should not give the devil a chance as they celebrate the day.

While urging Christians not to forget the significance of the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the cleric stated that these three events brought about salvation to mankind.

Rev. Panya cautioned against living ungodly lifestyle especially in these end times since no one knows the day nor the hour when Christ will return stating that ECWA is placing more emphasis on revival in the church because the signs of Christ return are more real now than ever hence the need for believers to be ready at all times.

This year’s carol featured song ministrations, reading of the carol lessons and presentations from the various ECWA departments, units and institutions within Jos.

The Evangel Gospel music band were also on ground as they led the congregation in praises to God.

Coordinator of the annual event, Rev. Jonathan Obi, who spoke exclusively to Today’s Challenge magazine said the programme is an annual event that has been on for the past six years and is organized basically to bring all the staff from across ECWA departments together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ together.

He added that the programme which began with about three hundred staff from few ECWA departments has now grown to over five hundred staff with more departments and units taking part.

Rev. Obi announced that plans are underway to improve on as according to him, efforts are on to also seek sponsorship so as to make it an international event that would bring ECWA staff within and outside the headquarters as well other Christian bodies to be part of the annual event.

Some staff who participated in this year’s carol expressed joy for witnessing the 2021 edition stating that they always look forward with eagerness as they down tools to commemorate the birthday of the Saviour Jesus Christ.

Miss Lydia Joseph, a staff of ECWA Productions Limited said “You can imagine us working all year round in the press sometimes not even attending some of the weekly church activities but this gives us an opportunity to form a choral group in the office to display our talents and to sing to the glory of God. I am so excited and happy to be part of this event.’’
