When Gov. Mutfwang led Plateau People to 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving
It was a day of celebration and thanksgiving in Jos, Plateau State on Thursday 29, May 2025 as people of the state came out in their thousands devoid of ethnic, religious and political variances, resisted the sunny day and congregated at the Jos Polo field, for the 2nd year in office celebration of the ‘Time is Now’ administration of Barr. Caleb Mutfwang. Reports Ralph Madugu
On that action-packed day in the political history of the state, exactly Thursday 29, May 2025, the people of the state left their homes as early as they could, to be at the venue to witness an event that was scheduled to commence by 9 am to enable them secure vantage point to witness an event that would remain unforgettable in their memories.
Led by the Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang and his deputy Ngo Josephine Piyo, the joy of the people knew no barriers. They came out in large numbers, rolled out the drums, sang songs of praise through song renditions, and offered prayers of thanksgiving, all in expression of their gratitude to God for His faithfulness and mercy in the life of the current administration, despite all odds.
The man at the centre of it all, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, in an expression of thanksgiving to God for the successes recorded so far since assuming office in 2023, described the journey thus far as one “sustained by divine grace and unyielding support of the people” of the state.
Said he: “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Today marks exactly two years since you bestowed upon me the privilege and honour to serve you, lead you and steer the affairs of our dear Plateau State. God has indeed been gracious and merciful to us.”
While reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of the past two years, Gov. Mutfwang attributed his administration’s resilience and achievements to God’s grace and the people’s steadfast support.
The governor recalled the sacrifices made by the citizens during the electoral process and post-election legal battles.
“I thank you, the good people of Plateau, not just for entrusting me with the responsibility to lead, but for standing firmly with us.
“I remember the vigils you kept at INEC offices across the 17 local government areas, the food women cooked and brought unprompted, and your steadfast prayers during our court battles. Giants stood in our way, but the Lord gave us victory,” Mutfwang recounted.
Highlighting some of the successes recorded so far, Gov. Mutfwang reassured the people that his administration was only at the beginning of a greater journey towards transformation.
“We are in the days of small beginnings. Many battles lie ahead and many victories are yet to be won, but I am confident we will overcome. What we have seen is just a glimpse of what is to come,” he reaffirmed.
The governor extolled the increasing unity and collaboration across religious and ethnic divides, applauding the Muslim community and groups for embracing the vision of a united Plateau.
While reaffirming his vision for a united, prosperous and peaceful Plateau, Mutfwang solicited sustained prayers, support and unity.
“I am persuaded that Plateau is a state set on a hill that cannot be hidden, destined for glory. No one will take her backwards. By the grace of God, we will reach the heights ordained for us. Today, we say thank you, Lord, for what you have begun and for what lies ahead.”
In an exhortation titled “Product of God’s grace,” General Overseer of the Redeemed People’s Mission, Rev. Nwosu C. Thompson described Gov. Mutfwang as a man divinely sent to restore and develop Plateau State.
The cleric who drew lessons from 1 Kings 3:1-9 likened Mutfwang’s leadership to that of King Solomon, prophesying an end to bloodshed and land annexation and a new era of peace and prosperity.
In their various goodwill messages, the Plateau State Traditional Council led by the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, former Governor Samuel Bitrus Atukum who represented former governors of the State, State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) represented by Rev. Cleopas Yunana, expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the government and the people despite the challenges.
They felicitated with the Gov. Mutfwang and commended the achievements of the “Tie is Now” administration.
They also expressed optimism for even greater successes in the years ahead and re-echoed calls for more prayers and support to the governor and the government towards a more united and peaceful Plateau.
The event which was one of several activities marking the two years in the office of the current administration was attended by former and serving members of the State and National Assemblies, former governors, party leaders, religious and traditional leaders, featured special song renditions by various church and fellowship groups including COCIN Women fellowship LCC Rayfield, Plateau Unity Choir, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Region 8, Praise Team and the Bodmos Praise Band.
The event climaxed with thanksgiving prayers for the Government and the State which were offered by the ECWA President, Rev Dr Job Ayuba Bagat while his COCIN counterpart, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo led the special prayers for the Governor, his family and his cabinet.
