New Year Broadcast: “Your Pain is Our Pain,” Says Mutfwang to Plateau Communities

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reassured the people of Plateau State, especially those communities that have recently suffered attacks, that his administration will not rest until lasting peace is achieved across the state.
He emphasized his government’s commitment to working alongside the Federal Government and other stakeholders to address these “avoidable tragedies.”
In a state-wide broadcast on New Year’s Day, Governor Mutfwang cautioned citizens against allowing ethnic, political, or religious differences to divide them.
He described 2025 as “a year of hope renewal, great opportunities, and transformative progress” for Plateau State.
The governor highlighted the efforts his administration has made in governance. He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the citizens, and security personnel for their support, trust, prayers, sacrifices, and diligence.
Gov. Mutfwang said he believes that with the cooperation of all stakeholders, the state will prosper.
“With profound gratitude to the Almighty God, I warmly welcome you to the year 2025—a year of hope renewal, great opportunities, and transformative progress for our beloved state. We owe our deepest gratitude to God for His steadfast guidance and protection over Plateau State throughout 2024. As the Scriptures remind us, ‘If God is for us, who can be against us?'” he stated.
In his address, which provided an account of his stewardship over the past year, Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the progress made by his administration but recognized that some communities still face security challenges.
He assured citizens that the government is committed to achieving enduring peace across Plateau State.
“My fellow citizens, let us not allow ethnic, political, or religious differences to divide us. As we step into 2025, let us walk together in faith and unity, determined to achieve the Plateau of our dreams,” he said.
While expressing sympathy for those affected by recent attacks, he added, “Your pain is our pain. We remain committed to partnering with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to end these avoidable tragedies.”
Governor Mutfwang enumerated efforts made in key sectors, including transportation, agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), education, health, water and sanitation, urban renewal, energy, and infrastructure.
He also announced that in the new year, the government would be dedicated to building neighbourhood markets across the Jos-Bukuru metropolis and establishing modern community markets in each of the three Senatorial Districts.
The governor added that plans are also underway to reconstruct the Jos Abattoir to global standards to create employment and boost internal revenue generation.
On healthcare he disclosed that in 2024, the government revitalized the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Agency and enhanced services in the Plateau Specialist Hospital, establishing it as a beacon of medical excellence.
Through partnerships, he said the government procured over $400,000 worth of medical supplies and invested ₦2 billion in laboratory infrastructure.
Gov. Mutfwang added that backlog payments of counterpart funds to the Plateau State Contributory Health Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) were cleared to improve healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
Regarding education, Gov. Mutfwang stated that remarkable strides have been made during which many courses have been accredited for Plateau State Polytechnic, the College of Education Gindiri, and Plateau State University Bokkos.
“The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved new programs in Medicine, Pharmacy, Statistics, and Religious Studies for Plateau State University Bokkos, while the College of Education Gindiri has been authorized to award degree programs in affiliation with the University of Jos.”
He further stated that scholarship allowances for Law School students and general scholarships for Plateau State students in higher institutions have been increased and distributed.
On infrastructure, he stated that various roads within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis have been rehabilitated, and 2025 has been declared the “Year of Groundbreaking of Road Construction.”
For urban renewal, the governor said the signing of Executive Order 003 has initiated a comprehensive urban renewal plan under the Greater Jos Master Plan adding that this initiative targets slum prevention, traffic management, and infrastructure preservation.
In 2025, he assured that the government is dedicated to building neighbourhood markets across the Jos-Bukuru metropolis while establishing modern community markets in each of the three Senatorial Districts.
He also announced that the government is collaborating with development partners for the reconstruction of the Jos Main Market to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
To improve public health and hygiene, Governor Mutfwang announced that the government is prioritizing investments in water, sanitation, and mineral development. He acknowledged the water scarcity in parts of Jos and Bukuru and stated that efforts are being made to resolve this issue.
On sanitation, the governor disclosed that initiatives are underway to strengthen the Plateau Environmental Management Agency.
