LUKE Initiative For Scripture Translation Holds 10th Anniversary Dec. 7 2024

All is now set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Luke Initiative for Scripture Translation, LIST.

LIST Nigeria is a non-denominational Bible Translation organisation with the vision of impacting lives for Christ by translating Scripture and Scripture-based materials for the Nigerian Church.

Information on the anniversary celebration made available to this medium indicates that the event scheduled to be held at the  Evangel Theological Seminary (ETS) Auditorium, Assemblies of God Church Jos by 10 am, will focus on the theme “Unlocking languages, unlocking lives:10 years of Bible translation.”

Prof. Danny McCain of the University of Jos is expected to be the guest lecturer. At the same time, the Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria and President of the Lutheran Church World Wide, Most Rev. Dr. Musa Panti Filibus will be the preacher at the event.

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, and the Chairman, Board of Trustees of LIST,  Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, will be the chief host.

LIST, an organisation that developed as a Luke Partnership program, has been working together with the Nigerian Church, communities, and other partners to develop languages, translate Scripture, and encourage its use for the transformation of lives as its mission.

The Luke Partnership program in Nigeria started in June 2004 and in 2014, the organisation was registered with the name “Luke Initiative for Scripture Translation (LIST).

So far, it has worked with many minority languages in different parts of Nigeria, especially in languages that have not been developed and where no translation of the Bible was yet available.

The organisation’s ultimate aim and goal is to see peoples and communities transformed through God’s Word by working with each language community in the area of Language Development, Literacy,  Bible Translation (in print and audio), Scripture Engagement, Story Based Trauma Healing programs and training for the translation of Jesus Film Script among others.
