As part of its resolve to create a favourable learning atmosphere and enhance the learning experience as well as the image of the institution, the authorities of the Plateau State University Bokkos have unveiled a beautification plan.
A statement signed by the University’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Masara Kim, indicates that it is geared towards beautification of the initiative, unveiled by Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Shedrack Best on October 25, which is aimed at boosting the institution’s reputation and fostering partnerships.
The statement enumerated the projects which include the “installation of a new signage at the university’s entrance, a renovated gatehouse, and a revamped justice symbol statue.”
Commissioning the projects, Prof. Best revealed plans for a comprehensive overhaul of the university gate to reflect a modern-day university.
The university VC emphasized the importance of a visually appealing campus, stating that “The university is a hub of knowledge and intellectuals, and its physical appearance should reflect that.”
On the newly rebuilt statue of Justicia, the VC described the statue as “now one of the largest in Nigeria”, which stands tall at the law faculty’s entrance, which would serve as a reminder of the principles of justice.
The VC applauded the management team for their unwavering support and acknowledged the efforts of the university’s employees in executing the projects.
It would be recalled that on assumption of office in February this year, Prof. Best had said that recognized the need for a quick beautification plan to remove obstructions and enhance the university’s corporate identity.
In line with his resolve to beautify the University through mass afforestation and weed removal, Prof. Best had initiated the remodelling of the university’s gatehouse, the painting of the gate and surrounding fence as well as the construction of a superimposing signage at the entrance.
