The Plateau State University Bokkos authorities have imposed sanctions on 43 university students for various exam-related offences.
According to a statement issued at the end of its 88th Senate Regular meeting and signed by Masara Kim, said, “The Senate also addressed a report from the institution’s examination misconduct committee, leading to necessary sanctions on 43 students for various exam-related offences, demonstrating the university’s commitment to upholding academic integrity.”
The statement said that during the meeting chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Prof. Moses Galadima Pyefa, the Senate in response to the challenges faced by the institution following the recent student riot, has commenced the repairs and restoration of damaged properties.
During the plenary, the statement added that in line with the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s request for cut-off points for admission, the senate also ratified the decision to set the admission cut-off mark at 160 while allowing faculties to revise benchmarks based on their specific departmental requirements.
The statement read in part: “The Senate also addressed concerns regarding relocating PG lecture venues, emphasizing the importance of holding all lectures on campus to accommodate both on-campus and off-campus students.
“Additionally, guidelines for online lectures were provided, underscoring the need for management approval and registration of all students on the e-learning platform.”
According to the statement, the PLASU Senate also recognised the recent collaborative tree planting exercise around the campus and the approval of a 5-km campus road network by the State Government which the senate described as “signifying a commitment to environmental sustainability and infrastructural development.”
The meeting also highlighted several accomplishments including “a productive partnership meeting with representatives from Michigan State University in the United States.”
Additionally, the statement stated that the senate also acknowledged the enforcement of a fine on students for the repair and restoration of damaged properties following the riot, as well as the implementation of a “no tuition fee, no examination” policy.
