A case for increased intervention in Plateau State-owned tertiary institutions has been made by Governor Caleb Mutfwang while on a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFundd), Arc. Sonny Ochonu in Abuja.
According to Mutfwang, the intervention from TETFund to the state-owned tertiary institutions would help bolster the educational development of the state.
The governor specifically sought for infrastructural support for the Plateau State University Bokkos, College of Education Gindiri and the Plateau State Polytechnic among others.
On specific needs, the governor requested for the fencing and building of new hostels to enhance campus security and provide a conducive learning environment for the students.
The governor said, “I chose to approach TETFund due to the significance of these institutions for our educational development.”
While acknowledging the vital role the Fund had played in supporting the state-owned institutions in the past, Gov. Mutfwang said his administration has made positive impact on accreditation, staff morale, and overall institutional progress within the last seven months.
He expressed optimism that TETFund’s management would facilitate additional interventions to further enhance security and academic performance in the state’s tertiary institutions.
Responding, Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Arc. Sonny Ochonu thanked the governor for the visit and expressed the Fund’s commitment to providing additional support within the constraints of limited resources.
Arc. Ochonu acknowledged the positive partnership with Plateau State on project implementation and emphasized TETFund’s commitment to assisting the state in producing the necessary manpower for national development.
The TETFund’s scribe outlined the Fund’s multifaceted interventions, which include support for academic research and equal distribution of resources for infrastructural development to create a conducive learning environment.
He assured of the Fund’s readiness for further collaborating with the state to improve the standard of living and educational opportunities for students.
