The Director, ECWA Christian Education, Rev. Ishaku Yaro has disclosed that the department is well equipped and prepared more than ever before to offer more services for the growth of the church in Nigeria and beyond.
He made this disclosure recently during the ECWA Christian Education Leadership Summit held in Jos, Plateau State.
He said that the summit, which was an annual event, had to be decentralized this time around for effective teaching and learning.
He added that the department had introduced initiatives to make things easier for both students and teachers and recruited more staff to handle the children adult units.
He said that the department had been working tirelessly to meet set goals in line with the ECWA transformation agenda and urged leaders to ensure total compliance with the approved working tools.
He advised teachers to take advantage of the new initiative, “now that the department has decentralized the summit to hold in different zones of the country.’’
He disclosed that all materials for Sunday School and Bible studies were available and urged churches to ensure that the materials are available at the beginning of next year.
ECWA General Secretary, Rev. (Dr) Yunusa Nmadu, called on participants to brace up for the challenges ahead as ECWA was very dedicated to the ministry of Christian education.
Speaking on the topic, “Who is a Christian Educator?” the cleric explained that, the educator must be called by God to a ministry of educating His church and urged them to imbibe the culture of loving their students just as Christ would do.
He pointed out that, for Christian educators to succeed, they must be innovative, creative, humble and develop a strong relationship with God and the people.
In a paper presentation, one of the resource persons, Rev. Paris Lumba, charged leaders to always observe protocols in the discharge of their Christian assignments as Christians and lamented how Church leaders often downplay protocols, thereby messing up the church in the public domain.
The cleric called on church leaders to submit themselves to constituted authorities as much that does not contravene the word of God.
More than 3000 leaders attended the summit from the Jos zone which was held at the ECWA Gospel 2, Jenta Jos, which also held at Omu-Aran and Aba zones with the theme, ‘Glorious Hope for Christian Educators.’
