Bauchi Communities get More Water Projects from POD

There was Jubilation, excitement and tears of joy as the People’s Oriented Development (POD) of ECWA commissioned some projects in Magama 2, Gadan Toro and Kafancho communities in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Commissioning the projects in the three communities, ECWA President, Rev (Dr) Stephen Baba Panya, congratulated the benefitting communities and said that God had sent POD of ECWA through its donors to do exactly what He would have done for them.
He stressed that God sent His son Jesus Christ to die for the salvation of mankind, adding that He went about meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of the people and urged the church to do same.
He noted that the provision of water to the people should remind them about the water of life which Jesus gives and called on those who had not yet accepted Him to do so before it was too late.
He appealed to the people to use the facilities to glorify God, and assured all members of the community were allowed to use it irrespective of religion and tribal differences so as to draw them to the saving knowledge of Christ.
The President was taken round some mini markets where women in the various communities were empowered with grants for business with which they had already achieved much.
Rev. Panya prayed and blessed the women.
Earlier, the Director, POD of ECWA, Rev. Dr. Ephraim Yoms, thanked the ECWA President for personally coming to the villages despite the rough road and the security challenges in the country which he said was a true demonstration of the love of God for the people.
He explained that POD had been working in remote communities to fulfil the mandate of the Great Commission and would continue to advance in its four cardinal mandates of sustainable agricultural development, healthcare provision, conflict resolution and peace building, basic social and economic services.
He disclosed that the organization had been working with rural communities in forming various agricultural groups focusing on food security, tree planting and animal husbandry based on their needs.
He added that POD had given financial support, seeds and plants to women and youth groups to reproduce so as to enable them stand on their own.
He disclosed that over the years, POD had also been involved in training women and youth in income generation and assisted them in accessing grants.
Coordinator of the projects in the area, Mr. Shehu Musa, stated that he came to the communities in 2019 and set up community development committees that had helped him achieve his aim of building the water wells.
He disclosed that presently, apart from the water wells, POD had also set up women in business groups, farmers and tree planting groups trained in various modern agricultural methods which were now helping them grow economically.
He said that they had successfully completed 14 wells out of the 22 initiated noting that work on the remaining 10 would soon be completed and commissioned.
In a message the Sarkin Rimji Mr. Joseph Nyako, thanked POD of ECWA for the projects, describing them as major landmarks by the church which would ensure that his people would no longer share drinking water with animals.
He assured that his people would protect and guard the projects and continue to pray and support ECWA in advancing the gospel of Christ in the area. There were goodwill messages from representatives of the Hausa and Fulani communities, traditional rulers, the DCC Executive and youth and women representatives, among others.
