ECWA Women Present Relief Materials to Zonkwa, Irigwe communities

More groups have continued to identify with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Zonkwa and Irigwe communities as the ECWA Women Fellowship International took relief materials worth thousands of naira to them recently.

As a way of demonstrating their love to the two communities, the women fellowship stressed that what they’re doing in in line with Christ directives to show love to those being persecuted and every humanity in terms of need.

Leading the delegation to the two camps in Zonkwa and Miango, leader ECWA Women Fellowship International, Mrs. Miriam Philips, thanked God for the opportunity to meet with the beneficiaries in such a difficult time.

She disclosed that the ECWA Women worldwide are saddened by with the news of the ugly incidence that Irigwe Zonkwa and the most recent of Yelwa Zangam and said that as mothers they are calling on security in the country to intensify efforts in bringing perpetrators of all the heinous acts to book and ensure that they face the law.

Addressing the over 5653 displaced persons from 24 villages in Zonkwa, Mrs. Philips enjoined them not to be discouraged over what has happened to them but encouraged them that the church is solidly behind them and would continue to ensure that they continue to mobilize support to help them settle down and return to their homes.

She also called on government at all levels to consider the plight of the people displaced and provide them with all the necessary relief materials that will cushion the hardship being experienced by the displaced person.

“ A lot of you are here not because you want to stay here so that people will come and be giving you relief materials, but it was circumstances that forced you here, therefore government must rise up to its responsibilities of ensuring that the right thing is done. Those of you who need shelter, government must provide, those of you who need food government must provide and above all, the government must ensure the rebuilding of churches and houses bunt down so that you can all return back to your communities.’’  

At the palace of the Brra Ngwe Rigwe, Rtd Rev. Ronku Akah, Mrs. Philips condole the paramount ruler and the entire Rigwe nation over the ugly incidence that bedeviled their land and said that God will surely comfort those who lost their loved ones.

She called on the people to forgive the perpetrators of such evil acts, stressing that God Himself will surely bring them to book at His appointed time.

She disclosed that ECWA women all over the world have been praying for the entire Irigwe nation since the news of the ugly incidence broke out and said that the church will continue to match on until Christ second return.

Also speaking, Director ECWA Christian Education Department, Rev. Ishaku Yaro, admonished the victims to be watchful of their movement as it is not yet over. He added that the main aim of the attackers is for land grabbing and would not stop until their evil plan is achieved hence the need for the people to watch out and guide their communities.

The Director thanked God for giving Irigwe nation a king who knows the Lord and has been leading the people in the part of the Lord and urged the traditional ruler not to give up as God will surely restore the glory of his chiefdom.

Responding, the Brran Ngwe Rigwe, Rtd Rev. Ronku Aka, thanked the delegation for coming and said that ECWA has really shown to his people that Irigweland is truly a mission station.

He disclosed that in spite of all that happened to his people, the Rigwe man is still committed to living in peace with those killing them. He added that as Christians they will continue to explore all means that would bring about peaceful coexistence with those seeking peace with them.

He stressed that his people are willing to forgive those who have destroyed their homes and farmlands if only they will come out and confess their sins.

The paramount ruler thanked the women for the relief materials and promised that all that was brought would get to the victims.  

The leadership of the women fellowship international also visited the displaced people at the ECWA Church Bishara 1 where they presented bags of maize, Beans, Rice and clothing.
