President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointments of principal officers and members of Governing Councils for the 8 newly established polytechnics and 6 colleges of education in the country.
This was contained in a document signed by Mr. Ben Bem Goong, Director of Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government had approved the establishment of 8 federal polytechnics and 6 colleges of education in the country.
Federal Polytechnic Shendam has Dr. Zakari Ya’u as Rector while Dr. Celina Shitnan Gana has been appointed as Registrar while Mr. James K. Tunlong as the Librarian and Dr. Naziru Suleiman as Bursar.
The Governing Council has Mr. Sixtus Ukelina Abetianbe from Cross River as Chairman. Others are Mrs. Mary E. Enwogulu from Nasarawa State, Hon. Dayyabu Chiroma from Bauchi State, Hon. Vincent C. Ogbuagu from Rivers and Mr. Dike Onyekwelu Herbert from Anambra as members.
Among the appointees is Prof. Dakas Clement Dakas from Plateau State, who is to serve as the Chairman, Governing Council for the newly established Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State.
The Chairmen and members of the Governing Council of the affected institutions are to be inaugurated by the Hon. Minister of Education at a date to be announced, the statement stated.
Similarly, Hon. Joshua Madaki, former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and Mrs. Sarah Bali, former Chairperson, Bassa LGA, have been appointed into the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Ekowe, Bayelsa State while Hon. Dina Lar, a former lawmaker and Alhaji Naim Aliyu have been appointed into the reconstituted Governing Council of Federal College of Education Zaria, Kaduna State and Federal College of Education, Obudu Cross River State respectively.
Their appointments were contained in a document released signed by the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono and published on the official website of the Ministry.
The appointees are expected to be inaugurated on April 20, 2021 and it is to be performed by the Education Minister, Adamu Adamu. The event will hold at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Auditorium in Abuja.
