Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos, Professor Yohanna Izam, has tasked the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Paul Wai, not to leave any stone unturned towards securing full accreditation for the Mass Communication and Geography departments in order to earn the confidence of parents, guardians and students.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. John K. Agams, indicated that the VC gave the charge recently while handing over the Faculty of Social Sciences building to the management by Liskebe Konsult.
Izam, who assured staffers of the state government’s efforts to address their welfare needs, said that handing over the completed project would fast-track the process of reopening of the institution for academic activities.
He disclosed that more projects would be commissioned in 2021 while the ground breaking ceremony for the Academic Affairs block, General Studies, Faculty of Environmental Sciences workshops and laboratories would be done before the end of the year as well as equipping the laboratories and setting up a new digital block manufacturing machine to enhance the completion of the institution’s fencing.
Responding, Professor Paul Wai commended the vice chancellor for achieving such feat within a short time and assured him of his readiness to effectively use the facility to secure full accreditation of the two programmes. It would be recalled that, during the last accreditation exercise, the Mass Communication and Geography departments did not scale through and were scheduled to be re-assessed at a later date to be announced by the National Universities Commission.
